Mwangaza Trust Education program aspires to transform every child in school by supporting not only academics, but also by applying carefully developed programs that build the child’s character. We work in partnership with the school community in creating an enabling, secure and supportive school environment.
This program focuses on 5 different areas i.e, Sponsorship of needy students; mentorship and leadership ; school visits to give hands-on support, Enhancing school environment by helping in building lavatories and other facilities that create an atmosphere more suitable for learning; and setting up of demo farms within schools alongside 4K clubs and Young Farmers initiatives to teach best agricultural practices and techniques. The success of these initiatives has been largely due to financial and material support from our partners. We are constantly seeking to renew and expand our partnerships in order to increase the number of students who benefit from our programs. Student Sponsorship Under this program, Mwangaza Trust provides scholarships for needy students at the secondary school, college and university levels.

Mentorship and Leadership Development
The goal of this program is to equip the school students with life skills and confidence to build character and navigate the challenges of life. Our mentorship programs include primary, Secondary, university and college level. The mentorship program at primary school level is done in the primary schools within the community. Secondary school mentorship involves our sponsored students with sessions in April, August, November/December. We have opened up this program to other students in the communities as well as the local secondary schools. Our program includes bimonthly sessions at the childrens’ schools and two annual retreats where we engage with the students and invite respected members of society who inspire and motivate the students. Parents, teachers and community leaders also have sessions within the program, contributing to its effectiveness.
To increase the reach of this powerful program to more schools, we will require partners. The annual cost of putting a student through the mentorship program is Kshs. 20,000.00.
School Visits
This program has two facets. The first involves visits by Mwangaza program staff, our partners and various mentors to the schools where our sponsored students are learning. This is crucial in not only getting a hands-on feel of the program, but also for the students to engage with their sponsors and providing a level of continuity for the mentorship and leadership program. This has proven to be exceptionally effective in inspiring students to better performance. The second facet involves taking students to visit other schools to share their experiences with their peers or seniors.
School Environment & Sanitation
The purpose of this program is to improve the infrastructure of schools to create a more conducive learning environment. The main areas of intervention include renovating and constructing school buildings, setting up libraries, building sanitary ablution blocks, addressing water challenges and introducing biogas / solar power systems to reduce the cost of power. HOW YOU CAN PARTNER WITH US Each school has unique needs and in this regard we will outline those whose needs fall within your area of interest and work out a proposal.
Agriculture in Schools
This program is part of a strategy to build the interest of the youth in agriculture and introduce agribusiness as an alternative career choice for pupils and students at an early age. It aims at setting up of demo farms within schools alongside 4K clubs and Young Farmers initiatives to teach best agricultural practices and techniques to the pupils and students. The produce will also reduce the reliance of the school on purchased foodstuff.
